Submissions
We want to hear from you: Whether you're sharing political analysis, a personal essay, local reporting, poetry, or multimedia work.
Dromline is a Toronto-based, community-rooted magazine that aims to capture local rhythms becoming global currents. From a team of iconoclasts at the liveliest world music bar in the city, Drom Taberna, we are an anti-oppressive publication—amplifying stories, voices, and forms of creative work outside the mainstream. We welcome submissions from writers, artists, organizers, and everyone in between who has something to say about the diverse, multicultural tapestry of this city and beyond.
Whether you're sharing political analysis, a personal essay, local reporting, poetry, or multimedia work, we want to hear from you. We publish biweekly.
We accept a range of content, including but not limited to:
- Personal essays: reflections, lived experiences, diasporic memory, joy, rage, grief, resilience.
- Commentary & opinion: nuanced takes on current events, politics, culture, or history.
- Local dispatches: reporting or storytelling rooted in your community.
- Interviews: artist spotlights, community voices, intergenerational dialogue.
- Creative work: poetry, visual art, photo essays, sound pieces, experimental forms.
- Resource writing: explainers or “primers” on political issues, movements, or histories.
You can either submit a completed piece (500-2000 words) or send us a short pitch (1–2 paragraphs) outlining your idea to [email protected].
If you’re unsure whether your piece fits, pitch anyway! We’re happy to talk it through.
We aim to respond to all submissions within 1-2 weeks.
